Phobias which relate to objects, places, environments,or situations occurring outside the body.
As soon as the individual encounters, or anticipates an experience, in one of these areas then it triggers a severe anxiety/fear response affecting breathing, heart rate and mental functioning, leading to avoidance.
No list or grouping of Phobias can ever be complete because of the wide variations and presentations. However this does not affect the principles of treatment no matter how unusual they appear initially.
SPECIFIC PHOBIAS Phobias defined as a disproportionate fear of specific objects /situations.
These phobias can be grouped into types in order of their frequency in the population.
